Re-Education
What is Re-Education? Re-Education is a program that is tailored specifically to your horse and their needs. I developed this program after doing years of bodywork. Bodywork is a great benefit to the horse, but I began to realize many horses needed more. There are horses who are not lame, but struggle in a certain aspect in their work. If the pattern continues, lameness will eventually occur. The nervous system dictates everything we do. In order to change the body, we must address the nervous system. Other horses are recovering from illness such as EPM or Lyme's. These illnesses directly affect the nervous system. We need to bring the body slowly back into balance after proper treatment for horses affected by these diseases. Another aspect is injury. Compensation patterns develop during an acute injury in order to protect the body. Once the injury is healed, the nervous system may hold on to that pattern. These horses require slowly releasing the compensation pattern while simultaneously developing the proper pattern. Again this is all about the nervous system.
The program begins after evaluation and starts with bodywork and in-hand work. This is the building ground of having a balanced, functional horse. Our goal is to have a horse who is happy in his body and able to perform the tasks we ask with ease. Bodywork consists of multiple modalities. Each horse is an individual. I choose modalities based on experience in equine bodywork and a 20 year career in nursing.
My goal is that the owner is present during this process. I want each owner to go home with confidence so they can continue the education with their horse.
